Abstract: Numerical simulations performed on supercomputers generate extremely large arrays of data, and it is often necessary to have distributed algorithms with output well-suited for in situ analysis. One algorithm of that kind, proposed and implemented by D. Morozov and G. Weber computes local-global merge tree, but it requires reduction and does not support adaptive mesh refinement input. In cosmological simulations one is interested only in merge trees on some parts of the domain, and in this case computations can be significantly sped up by using only local exchanges between nodes.
